Be Who You Were Meant to Be

Psalm 139:13-16

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
    you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
    Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
    I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
    you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
    how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
    all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
    before I’d even lived one day.

If there is a design, there is a designer. Consider the gadget you have now – somebody designed it to be that way. Our phone has gone through many revolutions, but it did have one primary reason for its design – to communicate with people. When it fails to do that – it fails to be a phone.

As human beings, we were designed by an intelligent designer. This designer knows what we are capable of. This designer gave us the DNA of greatness and purpose. The human body is designed so intricately that every part plays a role in how we live. Remove one, and the other parts are affected.

As a Christian, I know that the God of the Bible is my designer. He is my manufacturer. He knows me inside and out and the number of hair on my head. And His design was not limited to my physical appearance. The Bible says that we are sculpted from nothing into something. That has always been God’s business – turning a nobody into a somebody.

Knowing this truth about us would determine then how we should live. As Zig Ziglar said, we don’t have to be a wandering generality. We are meant to be a meaningful specific. Knowing who I am and how this designer did not just create me but loved me unconditionally gives me all the reasons to live my life to the fullest.

I would like you to take this time to think about this truth. The God of the universe created you, and you are destined to be somebody. Your days have been prepared for His purpose and plans. More than that – this creator of yours loves you unconditionally and has created you to receive and give the same love away. What a revelation! So go and be who you were meant to be!
