Church splits is one of the reasons why people are turned off with the gospel. How could a church who is commanded to ” love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and love your neighbor as yourself” split? Split over what?

Here are some reasons for church splits ( and I’ll try to rank it according to the splits I hear in the body of Christ)

– hurt and unforgiveness

– unforgiveness

– bitterness

– church politics

– church scandals

– financial unaccountability

and lastly – theological differences.

Pastors and church leaders it is time we stop the bickering and the dishonoring and start acting like Christians. Let us not try to hide our sin by trying to say that it is theological differences that made our church split. Most of the time it is not – it is our pride. Spiritual pride.

Pray and talk things over. Don’t make decisions in the heat of the battle – decisions made during those times are always wrong decisions. Start to forgive, love and be true Christians.

Church splits is the last thing I want to get involved in. Nothing good comes out of a church split. You can’t start something that God has not blessed.
