Romans 12:2 New Living Translation (NLT)
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Worry, fear, doubt, unbelief, lust, survival mode…..<
The Bible commands us not to copy the behaviors and customs of this world. We all know it is a sad, lonely and cruel world out there. Just the past few months, all we hear in the news are wars, killings, and more wars. Go to your social media account, and all you see are haters. We have been taught that the greatest pursuit of life is our happiness. This has led to more divorce, broken families, and entitled people. But a recent study shows that satisfied people are not after the pursuit of happiness but meaning. (mentioned in Tom Rath’s Are you Fully Charged book)
The way of the world is not working. And the Bible has stated that way before that we as Christians cannot copy or conform to the ways of the world. And the only way not to do it is to be transformed by the renewing of the mind.
This is not some meditation fad that is gaining some popularity these days. This is also not some seminars you attend conducted by motivational speakers.
Renewal of the mind requires us to get into the word of God. Read the Bible methodologically. Memorize scriptures. Study the Scripture. Declaring and confessing the Word of God should be a spiritual discipline. That is how you transform your mind and change your life.
David in the book of Psalm said, “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11
2 Timothy 3:16
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
It takes daily repetition of verbalizing the Word and making it a part of you. It’s got to be in you. It should be the first few words that come out when you are facing trials, testing, and danger.
