– with the ongoing growth of our Sunday meetings we are seeing the need to guide the new believers to spiritual growth.
– the past 3 weeks we have around 60 people who gave their lives to Jesus – most of them have never been in church.
– the past 2 months we have empowered new leaders to do the work of the ministry from serving in our services and doing follow up work and small groups.
– with the recent developments in church the question every leader needs to ask is “what’s next for the people who responded to the gospel?” and “what’s the next step in leading our leaders to growth?”
– with the onslaught of new materials, lessons and models for spiritual growth, we might be tempted to get the best programs of different churches and mixed them together and offer a program for our people.
I remember a time when Rick Warren’s “Purpose Driven Church was launched – churches started copying the program without thinking about the local context of the culture they are in. The program as good as it is did not really work in a lot of churches. WHY? Here are some reasons:
1. We are not Rick Warren
2. If you copy the program but not the principle you are doomed to fail.
3. If you give people program and not steps to growth they will get lost.
After Rick Warren, Cesar Castellanos’ G12 model hit Manila and once again clueless pastors like me tried to follow it to a T. Did it work? Yes but only for a while but there were more frustrated pastors. WHY?
1. We are not Cesar Castellanos
2. If you copy the program but not the principle you are doomed to fail.
3. If you give people program and not steps to growth they will get lost.
