I finished the book of Bill Hybels “When Discipleship and Leadership collides?”. A powerful book that I recommend every church planter should have.

While reading the book – a question kept popping up. Am I called to produce leaders or disciples?

Leadership is an overrated concept we use in church today. If we look at the Bible we rarely see the word leader or leadership but Jesus often uses the word disciple.

For Jesus – a leader must be a servant, a disciple. He personally modeled it and exemplified it.

As a pastor my goal is not to produce leaders but to produce disciples. Some people might not be called to leadership position but everyone is called to make disciples.
