Where do you draw the line between being pessimistic and being realistic?
First of all let me say that I cannot work with pessimistic people. It is hard. You can’t always play the downer of the team or the devil’s advocate. In fact, my challenge is for you to face the brutal facts of life but with faith that with God all things are possible.
Let me give you an example:
I can’t with my income spend our honeymoon in Europe. We have face the brutal facts that we just can’t. It would take my entire lifetime for me and my wife to be able to save for a Europe vacation. That is a fact. I am being a realist but I won’t be a pessimist. Why? I have a big God. So what did we do?
By faith – we made a financial plan to save up for a Europe trip because on our 25th anniversary I am definitely bringing her to Europe. Guess what? As we lifted this request to God, He made a way. On our first year of marriage, a friend of mine won a trip to Europe and he gave it to us for free.
So no matter how hard and bleak the situation is, you can’t give up on what God can do. Yes we are realist because we have a finite mind and ability but our God is more than enough to help us. And in case He won’t give what it is we desire, HE is still more than enough. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
