On Sufferring

Romans 5

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

When we became children of God, something supernatural happens. It is weird because what we have has an outworking that the world might never understand. I do not say this to boast but to point out how different it is for someone who has experienced being justified by God that brings about peace that the world cannot give.

It is evident is suffering. When we live in the grace of God and for His glory, the Spirit helps us see suffering in a new light.

Suffering produces endurance then character, then hope. Ultimately it is not for us or our glory, it is for Christ. It is literally saying God I don’t want to waste this suffering. May this suffering make me hold on to your grace more and more. It will not be easy but in the end, we know that your love is more than enough.
