Kobe made headlines today. His worst shooting performance ever. Kobe Bryant made only three shots Saturday, but his third was the biggest — a go-ahead 3-pointer with 20.2 left in the game that helped lead the Lakers to an 88-85 victory over the Hornets at Staples Center.
Yesterday I felt like Kobe ( in a bad way). I felt it was one of those nights where I can’t seem to preach the way I preach. It was like BLAH BLAH BLAH. I prepared hard. Got my notes ready and was in fact excited but I felt like BLAH.
After preaching for two services, Jayson Lo approached me and told me Kobe’s story. Kobe’s third shot was the game winner. He had his worst game but he made the last shot. Yesterday was may be a preaching I felt that did not connect but when we called people to come to repentance, people came.
Here are some things I’ve learned yesterday.
1. You will have off nights in preaching but at the end it is not about you but about Christ.
2. If Jesus could use a donkey, he could definitely use someone like me to minister the gospel.
3. At the end of the day it is the Holy Spirit who convicts hearts and not our eloquent preaching or stories.
4. Note to self: Don’t have 8 points in your preaching. (hehe)
