Romans 8
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[f] And by him we cry, “Abba,[g] Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Christianity requires a change in status and the biggest status change is that we are no longer slaves to fear but we are adopted to be sons and daughters. That is a big jump.
Somebody who is a slave to fear has never experienced Agape love. Somebody who lives in fear lives his life to please others. It is a tiring way to live. The fear of being rejected, of being unloved, of not measuring up.
“Perfect love drives out fear.” Perfect love happens when we were adopted into God’s family. In the family love of God there is love, favor, grace and protection. Thus more than 150x in Scripture, God commands his people not to fear because Daddy is here to protect and to love.
