Christians tend to complicate Christianity. We have added equations, keys, steps to be a better Christian. We try to complicate the simple but hard teachings of Jesus. We add rules to what Christ has already commanded and we try to measure our faith with the measure we use.
The do’s and the dont’s further complicates the problem thus we see a shift with culture The world has used verses from the Bible to defend their sin. “Do not judge”. It is sad because years ago the most quoted verse was John 3:16 which communicates the gospel and the hope of mankind. Now nobody knows John 3:16.
So what is the essence of Christianity. If stripped to its core what would Christianity look like?Let me suggest this verse:
Luke 10:27 So he answered and said, ““You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ”
This is the greatest commandment Jesus mentioned in the New Testament and we as a church have neglected it. A simple command we tend to complicate.
