For every church planter there is a measure of pressure to build a great church. A church that would offer endless religious programs, state of the art facilities, great entertaining preachings that would bring people back to church week by week. For most church planters the burden is too heavy to bear. Many church planters quit on the 3rd year of ministry. What is the key for us church planters to stay in the ministry and calling God has given us.
#1 Remember it is the Lord who is building the church and not the pastors.
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Matthew 16:18
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19
#2 Partnership
We must follow the pattern of Jesus. He partnered with us to build his church. He gave us the key to advance His kingdom. Partner with people- with your volunteers, your co-pastors, the community, the city officials, the congregation.
#3 Don’t just love the church but love your city
Grow in love with the city you are reaching to. Know the data, know the people, love the city. Once you start loving the city, there would be grace in growing your church without striving.
As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it Luke 19:41
