independence day – June 12, 2004

5 years ago – I had my independence day. Thammie said yes, she wanted to marry me!dsc081971

It was the boldest move I have ever made. For some marriage is being tied down or being limited. Mine was a different experience. It set me free, it made me better, it made me push myself knowing that I am not just living for myself but for my wife and my 10 kids.

Marrying the right person helped me. Thammie is such an amazing wife and mother, ministry partner and help. Can’t imagine life without her.

She is not your typical wife:

Strong but submissive, Fierce in her convictions but tender in her heart. There was never a day that I doubted my decision to marry her. I always tell people that marrying her was really a favor from God. And she marrying me was pure GRACE.

To my wife Thammie – thank you for saying yes. I promise to love you always.

BTW here are the lyrics of the song I composed to her 5 years ago:

Just watched a movie of a guy making promises

to his leading lady who really was impressed

I find it a little crazy, people making promises

to swim the deepest ocean or even climb Mt Everest

so I wrote down a song, with you in my mind, I made up a list

a list of my promises

I PROMISE TO LINE UP TO GET YOU SOME DONUTS

EVEN IF IT TAKES MONTHS I PROMISE NOT TO GO NUTS

I PROMISE TO BUY YOU 6 PACKS OF MILK

NOT ALASKA BUT YAKULT YOUR FAVORITE

I PROMISE TO TAKE OUT SOME WHEAT PUGON FOR YOU

THEN WE’LL GO TO ICE MONSTER AND WATCH A MOVIE TOO

I PROMISE TO EAT PASTA EVEN IF I DON’T LIKE

JUST PROMISE ME THAT YOU’LL  BE MY BELOVED WIFE
