We have been taught say
NO TO SEX and YES TO VIRGINITY
NO TO RH BILL AND YES TO LIFE
NO TO LUST AND YES TO PURITY
NO TO GLUTTONY AND YES TO HEALTH
NO TO BITTERNESS AND YES TO RESTORATION AND FORGIVENESS
Jared Wilson said,
So many of our efforts amount to condemning present affections without that expulsive power of a new one. We give them the “no” to sex with a “yes” to virginity or freedom from disease and pregnancy, but no “yes” is as propulsive for saying “no” to sin as the “yes” that is in Jesus.
The recent RH bill debate has shown us how legalism can creep in the church. To say no to RH Bill is to be excommunicated said some of the leaders. I don’t know about you but that is like putting too much weight on issues rather than on Christ. We have equated Jesus to issues.
NO TO RH = YES TO JESUS.
NO TO SEX = YES TO JESUS.
I am not saying have pre-marital sex. You will have consequences if you do. But risk avoidance is a weak motivator. The greatest motivator is the realization of the gospel. If people start to look to Jesus for their security, identity and life in Christ, the major issues would be non-issues.
