Has it ever occurred to you that religion may just be something that was invented so that people can have something to fall back on when the going gets tough, to blame when things go wrong, and to hope when everything starts to fall apart?
That is why I don’t focus on religion. My faith in God is not based on a religion but on the Scripture. Man, for the longest time tries to find security in their religion. So what you say is true in a way. But the Scripture tells us what true and pure religion is….
James 1:26-27 26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
Religion in its purest form is not about us. It is about serving the world with the love of Jesus. Religion fails when we don’t have a relationship with Jesus.
The difference between Christianity and religion is that
Religion is spelled DO. Do good, do charity, do things to please God and men.
Christianity is spelled DONE. It is finished. Instead of focusing on what good I did for God, Christianity tells us of what Christ did for us.
Religion that majority practice today is actually a self salvation process. As long as I am religious, then I will be save, then I will experience the favor of God. We can never take Christ away from everything we do. We cannot take pride in what we are doing for Christ. We boast only in what Christ did for us.
