Last Tuesday our team listened to Andy Stanley’s latest leadership podcast on why we need to be better and not bigger. He talks about how as we get better people demand that we get bigger. A lot of times we do it the other way around – we plan to get bigger without even planning to get better.
After the podcast, we did a personal and team evaluation of our to do betters. It was a great exercise – to be able to hear from trusted team mates what we need to do better in our work and ministry. Some of the revelations were eye opening. Blind spots were revealed. Having an unfiltered thinking atmosphere gave us the freedom to express how we feel with each other’s work.
At the end of the exercise – one thing was for sure. We were now accountable to each other to get better. We can’t settle. We have to improve and cultivate our craft. Better before bigger.
