I rememebr when we started Victory greenhills I tried to be like Victory Fort and we failed miserably. Good thing Pastor Chinkee had the wisdom to ask a bold question – who are we trying to reach? Who are we called to reach?
So tell help you in your missional journey here are 5 checklist to live the mission:
1. Calling from God
– you are called by God to a certain people not just a call to ministry.
– you are called to a people which helps us escape from the trap of technique. You can’t be like the other church. You have to break the culture code of the people you are trying to reach. Don’t fall in love with tecniques.
KNOW THE PEOPLE WHOM GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO REACH AND LEARN TO THINK ABOUT OUR CULTURE IN MISSIONAL TERMS.
Get the father’s heart for the people he has called you to reach. Pastor Marc Constantino our senior pastor in Victory MetroEast experienced a tragic flood that displaced a lot of his members and destroyed their houses including Pastor Marc. When asked if he was resettling, he told us he has loved the city and he is not moving. That is the product of a man called by God to a certain group of people.
John Knox said , Give me Scotland or I die. I hope that would be the same prayer we pray for the people whom God has called us to reach.
