Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. Deuteronomy 34:7

Moses was 120 years old yet his vision was strong and his strength was still there. I always wanted to be like Moses. He was clear of the vision that God has given Him. Imagine someone not qualified to lead at least a million Israelites – yet God chose him. Talk about clueless. What made Moses, Moses!

1. Vision

Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. Deuteronomy 34:7

2. Good health
Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the LORD showed him the whole land — from Gilead to Dan, Deuteronomy 34:1
all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea, Deuteronomy 34:2
the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar. Deuteronomy 34:3

You have to be in good shape for you to climb a mountain peak and see all the land God showed Moses. He was in tip top shape when God decided to take him away.

3. Servant’s heart

And Moses the servant of the LORD died there in Moab, as the LORD had said. Deuteronomy 34:5

To be labeled in the Bible as a servant is the greatest honor you can get. Jesus was big on servant leadership.

Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.” Mark 9:35
and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. Mark 10:44

4. Working well with the next generation

Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses. Deuteronomy 34:9

Moses was never insecure of the young leaders surrounding him. Moses took time to train Joshua on how to lead. Empower the next generation of leaders took a lot of load out of him.

5. Intimacy with God

Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, Deuteronomy 34:10

This sets apart Moses from the other leaders in the Bible. He met God face to face, like a friend. In terms of intimacy, my prayer is to be like Moses. To know the heart of God, to know the thoughts of God, to be a friend of God.
