Are You Thirsty Enough to Grow?

Over the years, I’ve noticed something that still surprises me:

The people who are already doing well—fruitful, productive, and making an impact—are often the ones most eager to be coached.

The ones who could benefit the most from guidance? Many times, they’re the ones who hesitate to ask.

Those who grow fastest share one thing in common: they have a posture of “Teach me.” They’re willing to read, listen, and learn. They view mistakes as feedback, not failure. When something doesn’t work, they don’t retreat—they lean in and ask, “Show me another way.”

Others? They wait to be convinced. They stay guarded, only opening up when conditions feel “just right.” When the learning curve gets steep or frustration sets in, they quietly back away.

If you want to design the life you were created for, you need the sixth “P” in my Design Your Life framework: Partnership.

Partnership is about more than networking—it’s about intentionally building a support system of mentors, peers, and collaborators who will:

– Stretch your thinking

– Give honest feedback

– Share their experience so you can go further, faster

It takes humility to admit, “I can’t see everything. I need your wisdom and perspective.” It takes courage to put yourself in rooms where you’re not the smartest person. And it takes generosity to lift others as you climb.

If you’re not where you want to be in your craft, career, or calling, it might not be about talent or opportunity—it might be about thirst.

So here’s my challenge:

Are you thirsty enough to seek help? To read the books, enlist mentors, and surround yourself with people who make you better?

Because the ones who are… don’t just grow—they multiply their impact.
