The basic difference between an ordinary man and a warrior is that a warrior takes everything as a challenge while an ordinary man takes everything either as a blessing or a curse.
– Don Juan, Tales of Power
We were driving by Quirino Avenue to bring my kids to Manila Zoo when we were greeted by a huge crowd wearing yellow, with placards saying “We Love You Tita Cory”
Thammie and I were amazed at the legacy Cory Aquino left us. She might not be the most skilled president but what she lack in talent she sure made up with her character and moral authority.
Cory was given a task that was way beyond her but she did show the world what leadership is all about. Cory was a leader worth following. The testament of it is how the crowds from Metro Manila brave the weather to see their beloved President for one last time.
Students, Housewives, businessmen, soldiers, politicians, people from all walks of life paid homage to her. She was not an ordinary woman who took the challenge to lead this country and fight for our democracy.
Tita Cory you are a leader worth emulating. I hope that your death would spark a revolution in our hearts. Ninoy was known for his quote “The Filinos are worth dying for.” You have shown us that the Filipinos are worth LIVING for!
