What the “Lord is my Banner” means?

Here are my notes on last Wednesday’s Staff Meeting word of Bishop Juray

Exodus 17:14-16 New International Version (NIV)

14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalekfrom under heaven.” 15 Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner. 16 He said, “Because hands were lifted up against the throne of the Lord, the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.”

Every time the banner is raised, it means we are in a fight and when God declares that He is our banner. The banner will never go down because God is our banner. Our assurance of victory is found in our banner.

The Banner promises that:

God will always be with us.

When I am down and troubled and I need a helping hand, I look at the banner. The banner assures me of God’s presence. It makes go to battle fearlessly because my king is the King of Kings and He will never lose.

This is God’s fight

I am glad it is. Because if it is my fight, I might have quit a long time ago. When it is God’s fight – I am given access to the power that is available in the Holy Spirit. His victory is also my victory. The reason I overcome is because He is the Overcomer. I have won because He has won for me.

1 John 5:3-5 New International Version (NIV)

In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

They say the Bigger the vision, the bigger the opposition. Well with God does it really matter that there is a bigger opposition? Your sickness doesn’t surprise God. The opposition you face is small compare to the power and glory of God.

The only fight God has called us to fight is the fight of faith. To trust and rely on God for strength.

Ephesians 6:16 New International Version (NIV)

16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

1 Timothy 6:12 New International Version (NIV)

12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

My Word is Always True

The Banner reminds me of the promises of God even if I can’t seem to see it yet. The King said the battle is His. I stand on that word everyday. When I am weak, my King is strong!!!
