The Truth Behind Spiritual Warfare

Destroying-the-Works-of-the-Devil

Spiritual warfare.

Powerful word. Word with lots of baggages. A word Satan and his demons don’t want to hear but in certain ways they have twisted.

Before you even go and do spiritual battle – you first have to know the starting point of spiritual warfare.

Spiritual warfare is not being this superhero who will come and tear down demonic strongholds anytime you want. It is not praying for demons to bow down to you. It is not a Star Wars force you have in you to fight the demons around you.

Many people mishandle spiritual warfare because they never understood the starting point. We have heard of some of the strangest practices when it comes to spiritual warfare thus many people have either shy away from it or embrace it fully without checking if it aligns with Scripture.

The starting point of the warfare is on Genesis when God declared:

Genesis 3:15  (ESV)

15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring[a] and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”

This was a powerful prophetic word that one day a hero will come and save people from the hands of the enemy. And we all read the book (the Bible). God was pertaining to Jesus.

And when Jesus came, He declared:

1 John 3:8 English Standard Version (ESV)

Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

Thus the starting point of the battle is that Christ has won it all. He defeated sin, Satan and death. We as His people are called to enforce the victory that happened on the cross. At the cross, the symbol of death became a symbol of hope for the church.

John 19:30English Standard Version (ESV)

30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

In the most humbling fashion, Jesus declared – “IT IS FINISHED”

It sounded like Jesus has been defeated but the truth of the statement was that Jesus was declaring to Satan – game over. I won the battle. Satan could not understand because Jesus was dead right before his evil eye.

But on the 3rd day!!!!

Jesus rose from the grave. He defeated death, sin and Satan on one fine day. Galeng mo talaga Lord!
