The Honor’s Reward

Preached on Honor today and how we can embrace a culture of honor because of what Christ did for us. I think if there is one thing the world needs to embrace = it is the culture and spirit of honor.

Honor is to value, put weight, esteem and respect. To dishonor is to treat as common.

When we say we honor God it means to put God in a position of esteem, respect and value like no other. Honoring God attracts His favor and blessings. A story in the Bible about honor really stands out when Jesus visited His hometown. The Bible says that

Mark 6:5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.

Mark 6:6 And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.

JESUS COULD DO NO MIGHTY WORK. THE SON OF GOD CANNOT DO ANY MIGHTY WORK? WHAT COULD RESTRAIN JESUS?

Mark 6:3 Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him.

Mark 6:4 ¶ But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.”

It is because the people failed to Honor Jesus. A culture of dishonoring restrains Jesus from rewarding us. So the decision is to either move in the spirit of honor or on the spirit of dishonoring. Hope you can chew on this

I recommend you read John Bevere’s book “Honor’s Reward” if you want an in depth study on the subject. Also wait for the audio and vidcast preaching at this site
