The Daily Grind #1

In the world we live in today, we can’t stand out if we don’t do the daily grind of hard work and hustle. In Metro Manila, millions of people wake up every morning as early as 430am to prepare to go to work. They try to squeeze in trains, jeepneys and buses because they want to do great work.

And so I want this reality to sink into our brain. When we think I could just show up and not grind my way to the top by working hard – somebody else is going to take my place.

Patrick Lencioni said, ” Wanting to keep your job is not the kind of motivation that turns a lazy worker into an ideal worker.”

If you think that you won’t be replaced – when business is bad – you might be the first to go while people who really work hard and add value to the organization stays.

Our job is to make our presence felt. One of the rewards is the paycheck. The ultimate reward is to do work that transforms my organization and blesses the people around me. So if your ultimate reward is the paycheck – it won’t be too long till you’ll find yourself stuck in a miserable life!

  1. Hello Pastor D,
Thanks for this blog. I accepted my current job a year ago to try a managerial position. Lately I feel demotivated. I am grateful for what I have now but it feels like that I should be doing / pursuing something else. I already have a slight idea of what it is but can’t decide as I am confuse if God wants me to persevere in my current situation (perhaps wanted me to learn something) or pursue the other which I think is my passion.

    • be patient brother! you can’t just quit on something unless you give it your best. Thats the spirit of the daily grind. Work hard. Add value. And dont leave your work without any contingency plan
