Poison and Patience

Acts 14:2-3

But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the other Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers. So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to perform signs and wonders.

It is a tough job to preach and disciple. One of the things we will encounter are anti-biblical cultures, mindsets and people. As we speak the truth, some people would try to poison the minds of the people we are discipling. So what should we do?

Just like Paul, he spend considerable time with them. Don’t give up yet. Ask the Spirit of God to illuminate their minds to see the truth. Only the Holy Spirit can open hearts, eyes and mind. For some, it would take time.

Secondly, make sure to preach the message of grace and not the do’s and dont’s. Throughout the Scripture you would see how the gospel is mentioned as a message of grace and not a list of things to do for Jesus.

Thirdly, is to move in signs and wonders. Accompanying the preaching of the word with the manifestation of God’s power. Signs and wonder are tools God uses to help proclaim the gospel.
