Notes from Ephesians 4: Belief to Results

The first 3 chapters of Ephesians, Paul showed us who we are in Christ.

Ephesians 1: Chosen by God, Redeemed by Jesus, Sealed by the Spirit.

Ephesians 2: The super abounding grace of God transforms me.

Ephesians 3: The gospel is for everyone whether you are religious or not.

Paul focuses on the first half of the letter on the belief that we have in Christ rather than our behavior.

In chapter 4 to 6, Paul shifts to how we live out our faith in Christ. The premise is that our belief corresponds with our behavior. In light of who we are in Christ, how do we practice this gospel in our everyday life.

It is knowing our position in Christ that we can live out this Christian life. I often hear this from my good friend Chinkee Tan,

Belief leads to attitude that leads to action that produces the desired result.

Thus Paul started with a strong statement in chapter 4 in light of who we are in Christ.

Ephesians 4: 1 1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.

The Christian life is not marked by a let go and let God mentality but it is to be marked with a TRUST GOD and GET GOING MENTALITY. – J.I Packer
