Mercy

Romans 11

29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. 30 Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now[h] receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you. 32 For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.

We talk about grace a lot but once you understand MERCY, it brings the gospel to a whole new level. In my disobedience to the law of God, I receive mercy.

Another one of those what??? Mercy is extended in light of my disobedience. Now does that mean that I disobey more? When you ask a question like these it means you don’t understand mercy.

Mercy is not getting what we deserve. It means you were doomed to eternal destruction and curses because of your disobedience but mercy saves you. But you wouldn’t know whom God will have mercy upon so don’t take disobedience lightly. Our sin points us to God. Sin tells us we need God’s mercy. The issue is not disobedience – all of us will disobey but God in His sovereignty will choose to have mercy on whom he wants to have mercy.

Prayer: Lord may I always remind myself of your mercy. Your mercy has saved me.
