Mark 2:21-22 Out with the Old, In with the New

Mark 2-21-22

Mark 2:21-22

21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.”

Everybody needs to be renewed. Not reformed, renewed.

Many people think Christianity is just changing the external but never touching what is internal. For real change to happen, we have to be willing to get to the root of the problem. We have to acknowledge that how I do things before Christ does not work.

Christianity is not something you plastered on to your old self. It doesn’t work that way. You can’t have the same sin and just add Jesus to your lifestyle. You remove the old and bring in the new.

The great thing about our faith in Christ is that as we remove the old, he gives us newness of life.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;

Are you ready to remove old habits of sin and ask Jesus to pour out new wine into you? Are you ready for transformation?
