Mark 1:14-15: Timing of the Message

Mark 1-12-13

Mark 1:14-15 English Standard Version (ESV)

14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

As we slowly read the word, many concepts of the Scriptures comes alive and we found meaning in the text we read. Going through this two verses, we see how Jesus started his public ministry.

AFTER JOHN WAS ARRESTED

John the Baptist, his cousin, was arrested because of doing ministry. It was a challenging time to start something new but Jesus declared that the time is fulfilled.

Here we see that preaching the message of the kingdom (gospel), does not depend on how happy we are or how positive things are turning out. Even in challenging and trying times, when God says go – GO!

We may never understand God’s timing. I remember when we started our church in Greenhills. The timing was not right. it was November 2007 – the time when parking was always full in Greenhills. It was hard to launch that month and we even got bumped out of our venue on our 1st month. We saw our attendance dwindle to more than 60% the next month. But we knew God called us to start the church that month. Challenges abound but we pressed on.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND

The message is to repent and believe in the gospel. What does it mean when the Bible talks about the Kingdom. Below is an excerpt of my preaching on the kingdom of God:
