It is Who you Know

Acts 19

13 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” 16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

This is one for the books. It really is funny when you start to imagine what the 7 sons of Sceva experienced but upon further reflection, it actually is quite scary when you don’t know what you are doing and you are not connected to Christ but act as if you are.

How many times have I tried to do things not because of my relationship with Christ but because certain preacher and evangelist did it this way. I try to be the next Benny Hinn in signs and wonders or the next evangelist that will shake the world and forgot about the main reason why I am even doing what I am doing.

Let us not fall into the trap of worshipping people, styles and ministries. We all know who the source is, go straight there and learn from Jesus.
