help from unexpected people

Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there. Joshua 2:1

God uses the most unexpected people to get the job done. He used Moses – a murderer, Joshua an inexperienced young man and now He gets Rahab, a prostitute, into the picture. What a way to build His kingdom.

Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof Joshua 2:8
and said to them, “I know that the LORD has given this land to you and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. Joshua 2:9

The land of Shittim was so afraid of the Israelites. They were almost accepting defeat already. Why would God want Rahab in the picture. The chapter shows us how God loves to use unexpected bystanders to become heroes of faith. If God used Rahab how much more us!

By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient. Hebrews 11:31

In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? James 2:25

Now then, please swear to me by the LORD that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign Joshua 2:12

Rahab treated the Israelites like family. She protected them because she knew God was on their side. We might have no talent, no ability, clueless, but if we learn how to love and show kindness to people, it would open doors for us that we can’t even imagine.

PS: Glad to have help from some of the most unexpected people for our church plant.
