End Times

Going through the book of Acts this week. As I was reading through chapter 1, there was some glaring thing about how God wants us to respond with the subject of the end times.

Acts 1:7-8 New International Version (NIV)

He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

He tells us Christians that it is not our business to know the times and dates (which we get so engrossed with) and he shifts our focus to being empowered by the Holy Spirit to make disciples to the ends of the earth.

The disciples then was so fascinated with Christ’s ascension that they were just looking up for the longest time till two angels come and reminds them:

Acts 1:10-11 10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Don’t keep looking at the sky. Jesus is coming back but you will never know when. Go home. Do God’s business. Expand His kingdom with the power of the Holy Spirit. Put down your END TIME novels and start making disciples. I am coming soon.
