EMPOWERED DISCIPLES PART 2

CB021624

CB021624Empowered Disciples is the New Big. The way to get big is not thorugh numeric goals or counting the weekly attendance but asking “Have I empowered the church to be disciples in their culture and in their world?” The mistake a lot of churches make is that they try to box discipleship to look like a certain way.

Discipleship is only when you become a small group leader!

Discipleship is when you finish a certain course in Bible School!

Discipleship happens once a week when you meet with your small group!

But empowered disciples knows that discipleship is not limited to a church program. Empowered disciples know that is a lifestyle. More than taught, it is caught.

Let me give you real life examples:

We have a financial coach in our church who got saved last year. His growth in God was phenomenal. He was able to bring his family and siblings to church. He is a very busy person. Very but he is also an empowered disciple. It has become his lifestyle. He might not be able to do small group every week but he has spread the Word of God through his financial talks and his blogs. His influenced was not limited to his small group but because he is empowered he has expanded the gospel of Christ to more cities than we could ever imagine.

We also have a marketer in church. He was saved last year as well. He is not a small group leader. He wants to but his schedule wont permit. He is one of the most sought after marketer in the country today. He loves his job, his fiancee and Jesus. He is one of the most influential bloggers in the country today. Through his personal relationships with friends, his blog site and his talks – he has clearly communicated his love for Jesus and that everybody needs to have Jesus. He is an empowered disciple.

We also have a mother who is 60 years old. She is your silent worker. She leads small groups, does counselling and even leads in short term mission trips. She and her husband are very influential people. They are empowered disciples.

Matt. 28:18 ¶ And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Matt. 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Matt. 28:20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
