1 Samuel 16:7 New International Version (NIV)

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance,(A) but the Lord looks at the heart.”(B)

Do not commit the mistake of trying to disciple someone because of his/her outward appearance. Don’t disciple someone because he or she is a leader. We have never made disciples that way. In fact, most of our leaders today where not leadership materials when they were discipled. It means you will never actually know who will be the leader of your church.

Who would have thought a shepherd boy will be chosen over his warrior brothers? Think about you – where you some big hot shot person that your friend spotted and decide to disciple you. Most likely not. So don’t look at the outward appearance, achievements but rather speak life, leadership and Christ to the people God gives you to lead – no matter if they look the part or not. It is never about looks
