Death by Pride

Acts 12

21 On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne, and delivered an oration to them. 22 And the people were shouting, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!” 23 Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.

Not a way you want to die.

You might have heard it from the sports world, Michael Jordan shouldn’t have come back and retire while he was on top of his game.

In the business world, we tell people to retire while they are on top of their game.

Herod was on top of his game. He made a speech that was so inspiring people declared him as god but instead of giving God the glory, he took the glory and dwell in pride. God ended up killing him.

From Glory to Gory. Not the way you want to die.

Lord teach me to be humble and not to get the glory in what I do. May you increase as I decrease. In Jesus name.

24 But (AF)the word of God increased and multiplied.
