Common Grace

There are 2 kinds of Grace – common grace and saving grace. Today, I’ll blog about the common grace.

The Bible says that God is love thus His love is manifested to both Christians and unbelievers alike. The word common grace was coined by Augustine, because it is for everyone and therefore common to all human beings.

Common grace reveals something of the goodness of God to all people – which we bear because God created us in His image. Common grace makes it possible for us to not kill each other or steal, hurt or destroy when we want to. It restrains us from being super evil and gives us a sense of decency and morality. Common grace is also the reason why people who don’t believe in Jesus can have a good life here on earth.

here are some scriptures on common grace:

Psa. 33:5     He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

Psa. 104:14     He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, And vegetation for the service of man,
That he may bring forth food from the earth,

Psa. 145:9     The LORD is good to all,And His tender mercies are over all His works.

Matt. 5:45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Luke 6:35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

The sad news is that the common grace does not save us from sin or the consequences of it which is hell.

Tomorrow I’ll blog on the GRACE that SAVES
