Adjusting Vision

DSC-8829

Victory Churches everywhere have one common vision- HONOR GOD AND MAKE DISCIPLES. But living in a GLOCAL context, Victory churches are unique in their expressions depending on the context and the place where the church is planted.

Victory UBELT and Victory Greenhills has the same vision and the same passion to HONOR GOD and MAKE DISCIPLES but how we reach the mission and live the vision might vary. Here is what every missional minister must practice all the time:

ADJUST VISION AS YOU LEARN THE CONTEXT.

How we started was something you should not copy. We were confused and we had no specific people we want to reach. If your goal is to reach everybody then you reach nobody.

Here was I preaching in my barong and slack. Our goal at this point was to be Victory Fort. We never established our identity in the first 2 months we planted the church. We forgot that we were not called to be Victory Fort, our community was far from the people attending the fort. The personality of our pastors were not the same as the people in Taguig.

Today, our congregation of young entrepreneurs, businessmen, singles and young people can’t even imagine me wearing barong on a Sunday. We have in our own little way cracked the cultural code of our city. We are seeing a harvest of businessmen 35 years old and below. There are more babies and toddlers than kids age 7 to 12. We are attracting a young crowd and we are glad we are able to hit the people we were trying to reach because we have adjusted the vision of the church accoridng to the context that we are living in.
